The 2012 Medicare Compliance Forum—to be held October 18–19 at the Hilton in the Walt Disney World® Resort—promises to be one of the year’s best resources for healthcare revenue cycle staff members to keep up to date on important Medicare regulatory issues.

The fourth annual Forum features a diverse faculty panel of industry experts including consultants, educators, attorneys, and providers. They will present 22 sessions under three tracks: Government Audit Strategies, Medical Necessity Compliance, and Hot Topics in Medicare Reimbursement. Participants can select which sessions to attend, and will receive a downloadable program workbook.

“The 2012 Medicare Compliance Forum will continue its tradition of bringing practical and innovative approaches to important Medicare compliance concerns,” says Andrea Kraynak, CPC, senior managing editor at HCPro, Inc. “Now in its fourth year, the Forum provides the opportunity to hear from Medicare experts working in the field who excel at staying on top of regulatory changes and recognizing their impact. This is the event to get in-depth analysis on hot topics such as PEPPER, appeal strategies for denied claims, and UR committees.”

Kraynak says the 2012 Forum will teach attendees to recognize risk areas from government audits, describe elements of maintaining medical necessity compliance, and identify important Medicare compliance rules pertaining to reimbursement.

The event also includes two pre-conference sessions on October 17: “Outpatient, Observation, or Inpatient? Continuing to Walk the Tightrope of Regulatory Guidance,” by industry expert Deborah Hale, CCS, CCDS, president of Administrative Consultant Service, LLC, and “OPPS and IPPS Reimbursement Fundamentals,” presented by Kimberly Anderwood Hoy, JD, CPC, HCPro’s director of Medicare and compliance.
