Herbalists from the Rockport, Maine-based Avena Botanicals will discuss herbal remedies and lifestyle support appropriate for the transition from winter to spring at Royal River Natural Foods, the independent natural food store in Freeport, Maine, on Saturday, April 6.
The start of spring is a time of major transformation, and Avena Botanicals will explain how to help bodies adapt and embrace these changes. "Many of our customers are seeking alternative ways to address a variety of health conditions," notes Becky Foster, the Health & Beauty Department Manager at Royal River. "The herbal remedies from Avena Botanicals allow them to take a natural approach to maintaining good health or to healing from illness." Foster continues, "What's also great about Avena is that the majority of their products are made from herbs grown and harvested here in Maine."
Herbalists Jillian Kelsey-Rose and Kwah Wa'Adabi, both on the staff of Avena Botanicals, expect to speak specifically about "Energetics of Spring." They will cover several plants and tinctures related to the change in season including:
- Spring/Fall Tonic
- Nettle Tea and Extract
- Coltsfoot Compound
- Elderflower Creme
- Arnica Oil
- Calendula Oil
- Immune Tune
Kwah Wa'Adabi has been a practicing herbalist and teacher for over 30 years. Jillian Kelsey-Rose is a practicing herbalist as well as a teacher and manager for Avena Botanicals. "Royal River Natural Foods and our customers are very fortunate that Kwah and Jillian will be here to share their knowledge with us," says Foster. Royal River Natural Foods often hosts nutritionists, chefs, and other experts in its community space to provide additional knowledge for customers interested in natural foods, supplements, and other alternatives to conventional medicine and the Western diet. This is the first visit to the store from the expert herbalists of Avena Botanicals. Their presentation is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 6.
