Now in its 5th year, HBA High Marks gives participants a once in a lifetime chance to experience life within an elite Aussie rules team, as well as gain valuable guidance in relation to life skills, diet, nutrition and healthy lifestyles

The Hawthorn Football Club's amazing 20 year partnership with leading private health insurer MBF will go from strength to strength with today's announcement that its sister brand, HBA, will take on the role as Hawthorn's long-running sponsor.

MBF and HBA became sister brands in 2008 when HBA's parent company, Bupa Australia, merged with MBF, creating the largest non-government operated health insurer in the country.

HBA has been serving the health and care needs of Victorians since 1934 and is a leading private health insurance brand in the State.

HBA's Head of Market Development and AFL legend Peter Hudson explained the reason behind re-branding the Hawks under the HBA banner, was because HBA is so well known amongst Victorians.

"Victorians know, trust, and love HBA, just like they know, trust & love their Hawks," he said.

Hawthorn Captain Sam Mitchell welcomed the news as he and the team made their final preparations for the start of the AFL season.

"The playing group is focused on the challenge ahead in 2009 and it's great to know the team has the continued support of a leading health insurance provider, HBA", Sam said.

Hawthorn President, the Hon. Jeff Kennett AC, was delighted that one of the club's oldest partners was continuing their support.

"I welcome this change. I have been a HBA member for over 40 years and their professionalism and focus to detail matches that which we strive to deliver at the Hawthorn Football Club. Together, HBA and Hawthorn are a natural fit particularly in the image of the 'family club' that we so value," Mr Kennett said.

Peter Hudson reminded fans that throughout 2009 they will see HBA on the player's shorts, while at the Hawks home games the match ball will display, HBA.

"Hawks fans who have health insurance with MBF or HBA don't need to do a thing. Little will change, except that those members will benefit from a bigger branch network and have a broader range of products and services to choose from," he said. "It won't be just the Hawks and their fans who benefit from the new partnership with HBA but also those selected to take part in the youth development initiative, HBA High Marks."

"Now in its 5th year, HBA High Marks gives participants a once in a lifetime chance to experience life within an elite Aussie rules team, as well as gain valuable guidance in relation to life skills, diet, nutrition and healthy lifestyles," Hudson said.
