Web's Fastest Growing Health Site is a Video Site

According to the comScore, Inc. February rankings, Health Guru Media (http://www.HealthGuru.com) was the fastest growing health site on the web over the last three months. Not coincidentally, Health Guru was also one of the few health sites with more video views than unique visitors over the same time period.

According to the comScore, Inc. February rankings, Health Guru Media (HealthGuru.com) was the fastest growing health site on the web over the last three months (among the 150 largest health sites). Not coincidentally, Health Guru was also one of the few health sites with more video views than unique visitors over the same time period.

During February, Health Guru Media was ranked #27 on comScore's list of leading health properties with 1,314,000 unique visitors. During the same month, Health Guru had more than 2 million video views on its websites (8 million network-wide). In many ways, Health Guru Media is more of a video company - albeit a health video company - than it is a traditional web publisher. In fact, parent company FullTurn Media began making health videos back in 2006 - several years before Health Guru launched its first channel.

According to CEO Joshua Silberstein, "Initially, our goal was to be the dominant provider of online health video, but somewhere along the way we realized that our videos were tapping into a really underserved audience, the 18 to 40 year old health consumer." That insight was the impetus for HealthGuru.com, which focuses on conditions like pregnancy, sexual health, and college health that are of interest to the younger demographic.

While Health Guru's monthly growth rate of 39.6% was the fastest in the health category, four other companies grew at a greater than 20% monthly clip over the same time frame: Nutrisystem.com (26.8%), The American Media Inc. Fitness & Health Network (25.9%), FitnessMagazine.com (24.7%), and RealAge.com (21.4%).
