Voalté debuts first-ever iPhone solution that seamlessly integrates Voice, Alarm, and Text for healthcare professionals

Sarasota Memorial Hospital nurse Alissa Oconnor-Rottingen discusses the Voalte One application with Oscar Callejas, Chief Experience Officer of Voalté

Clear and accurate communication is crucial to delivering high quality patient care.

Voalté, an innovative software solutions company, recently announced its Voalté One iPhone application is now available to hospitals nationwide. The iPhone application brings cutting edge communication technology to nurses and other point-of-care workers.

Voalté (nomenclature derived from Voice, Alarm, Text) consolidates all three functions on the versatile iPhone platform. The first-of-its-kind application enables users to send and receive text messages, make voice calls, and receive critical care alarms on the iPhone, providing faster response to patient needs.

The product is a culmination of more than five man-years of development and design, and is the brainchild of Trey Lauderdale.

Lauderdale, the Vice President of Innovation at Voalté, was working for Emergin as the Regional Sales Manager of the Southeast when he saw the plight of discouraged nurses. He observed the nurses spending a great deal of time chasing information, and thought, with today's technology, there must be a better solution.

"Clear and accurate communication is crucial to delivering high quality patient care," said Lauderdale. "I knew there had to be a better way. I wanted to consolidate all of the point-of-care communication functions into one mobile platform."

In June 2009, Voalté launched a pilot program as part of its development partnership with Sarasota Memorial Hospital in which nurses could give immediate and direct feedback to the company via the iPhones. The hospital staff worked closely with the Voalté team to gauge the success of the solution, including how easily the nurses adapted to carrying and using iPhones.

Voalté used the feedback of more than 100 nurses and point-of-care workers and fine tuned the product for the needs of the individual departments and users. The pilot at Sarasota Memorial was deemed a success and the solution is now shipping nationwide.

Voalté's CEO, Rob Campbell, made a name for himself as a visionary in the PC software arena, having been the driving force behind the development and success of programs such as PowerPoint and FileMaker. He has left retirement to take the helm of Voalté and usher in this new generation of technology.

The Voalté One application will be submitted to the Apple App Store, which will aid in distribution. Although this is an enterprise application, Apple uses its App Store to distribute both consumer and business applications.
