Sickday Medical House Calls Launches Low Cost Neighborhood Service For Uninsured New Yorkers

Sickday launches new neighborhood service in Chelsea, arranging low cost treatment of acute, urgent medical conditions in homes and offices for the uninsured. Launching in Chelsea, Sickday plans to expand the offering to all Manhattan neighborhoods.

New York (PRWEB) September 24, 2009 -- Urgent healthcare in one New York neighborhood will be a lot less expensive and more convenient thanks to Sickday Medical House Calls, an established company dedicated to providing quality patient care at an affordable cost.

Sickday announced today it is launching its first low cost neighborhood service aimed at uninsured, under-insured and unemployed New Yorkers. Opening in Chelsea, the new service offers quality medical care in the patient's home or office for just $75.

Sickday will operate the service five days a week, Thursday through Monday from 12pm to 8pm. New York residents who live or work in Chelsea are eligible to use the service and can schedule an appointment online. The coverage area includes 6th avenue to 12th avenue from 14th to 28th streets.

"It's always been our mission to improve healthcare options for New Yorkers." said Naomi Friedman, founder of Sickday. "Sickday is trying to fill gaps in availability and to do it affordably we need to be neighborhood-centric." The company is starting in Chelsea, but plans to expand the program to all Manhattan neighborhoods over time.

The neighborhood program is subsidized in part by Sickday's existing on-demand service, which has been operating throughout Manhattan since 2001.

Sickday physician associates are licensed, experienced healthcare professionals, able to treat a wide range of conditions from abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea to Sinusitis, Conjunctivitis and Bronchitis/Pneumonia. The service includes a comprehensive evaluation, diagnostic exams, prescriptions for medications, ordering and interpreting lab tests, and referrals to sub-specialists, if needed.

Sickday physician associates spend a minimum of 30 minutes with each patient, significantly more than many doctors can spend with patients in a traditional office setting. Fees for service are payable at the time you book an online appointment.

Socially Responsible Medical Care

Sickday's neighborhood care model offers medical practitioners a financially viable model for extending care to vulnerable patient populations. Leveraging the operational expertise and resources of Sickday's on-demand service allows caregivers the opportunity to operate without overhead or expensive infrastructure and results in lower costs for patients.

"Sickday offered me a way to keep my full-time job and also help those in the community who struggle to find quality, affordable care, said Veronique Camile, a Sickday physician associate. "I just allocate my time and my skills as a practitioner, Sickday does the rest and the whole community benefits."

About Sickday Medical House Calls
Sickday Medical House Calls is more than a nostalgic return to the "days gone by" of at-home medical care. We have a modern healthcare solution devoid of waste and unnecessary infrastructure that allows us to provide quality, affordable care in the environment of your choice.

Sickday clients receive prompt medical attention in the comfort of their home, office, or hotel room. Our PA's spend an average of 30-40 minutes with each patient, listening, observing, and truly understanding their health needs. This personal attention assures accurate diagnosis and effective treatment plans. Sickday does not subscribe to the alternative "patient factory" mentality.

After years of working in hospitals and private physician practices, Naomi Friedman founded Sickday in 2001 to re-establish house calls as an integral part of the nation's healthcare system. She has seen thousands of New York's residents, corporate executives, and visitors alike over the past eight years, and is considered a pioneer in the house call field.
