HealthLeaders Media a multimedia company dedicated to meeting the business information needs of more than 100,000 healthcare executives nationwide, recognizes the challenges leaders in the healthcare arena face and annually award top performers with its coveted Top Leadership Teams in Healthcare award.

Winners of the prestigious Top Leadership Teams in Healthcare Award are globally recognized through HealthLeaders Magazine and www.healthleadersmedia.com, for their highly effective leadership team that relentlessly and measurably improve. Winning teams also receive complimentary travel and registration to the HealthLeaders Media 09: The Hospital of the Future Now event on October 15-16, 2009 at The Palmer House in Chicago.

"The current downturn has created an entirely new dynamic in healthcare leadership," says Jim Molpus, Editor-in-Chief of HealthLeaders Media. "Healthcare leadership teams are making tough decisions on matters they never thought would happen to them, like layoffs, operating deficits, lack of capital and the drop in investment income. The Top Leadership Teams program has found over the years that healthcare organizations with an agile, transparent, and goal oriented leadership team can manage through just about anything. I'm certain we will see some of those stories reflected in this year's entries."

Entry is free and leadership teams are encouraged to submit their application before the deadline of April 30, 2009, in one of the Program's six categories:

  • Large Hospitals and Health Systems (500 or more beds)
  • Community and Mid-Sized Hospitals (100 to 500 beds)
  • Small Hospitals (100 or fewer beds)
  • Health Plans
  • Medical Group Practices
  • Global Hospitals and Health Systems
One exceptional leadership team will be awarded in each of the six categories. Selection is determined by an international panel of judges who conduct facility site visits in addition to reviewing all applications.

Two major criteria are used to determine the winning leaders: Teamwork exhibited among an organization's senior leaders to achieve stated operational goals and how an organization's senior leadership team works together to effectively overcome any challenges or barriers encountered while working to achieve goals
