In response to customer demand, Healthy Choice has introduced a line of comfort-style baked food items. The line includes Four Cheese Ziti Marinara, Fettuccini Alfredo Bake, Roasted Chicken and Potatoes, Italian Sausage Pasta Bake, Lasagna with Meat Sauce and Chicken and Rice Cheddar Bake. Each item comes with an Even Bake tray to ensure food is cooked evenly and without burning. They are sold in the freezer section of stores for $2.50. Healthy Choice has also recently launched “The Healthy Crowd” Facebook page, offering customers special offers, rewards and resources for healthy living.

In conjunction with Healthy Choice’s new line of food, Massage School San Diego has released a list of tips for cooking healthy at home:

  •     Instead of using a whole egg, substitute two egg whites.
  •     Use skim milk to make creams and sauces.
  •     Use lemon juice instead of butter to flavor.
  •     Cook vegetables in broth, instead of in butter or oil.
  •     Substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream.
  •     Use vinegar and citrus for dressings and marinades, instead of pre-made oil based ones.
  •     Steam or stir fry vegetables to preserve more nutrients.
  •     Use whole grain rices, breads and noodles.
  •     Cut back on salt, and use more herbs and juices to flavor foods.
  •     Use fresh fruits and vegetables to make smoothies when in a hurry.
