The Healthy Living and Learning Center opened this week in Petersburg, Virginia, In response, Massage School San Diego, proponent of healthy living, vegan foods and holistic schools in San Diego, has released a tips sheet for staying healthy this fall season.
Petersburg, Virginia, aims to combat city health concerns with its newly launched Healthy Living and Learning Center. Last year, a study revealed Petersburg as the unhealthiest city in the state of Virginia, with a premature death rate of more than double the whole state average. The new center contains information health resources and is staffed by a team of health education specialists and specially trained librarians from the Crater Health District and the Virginia Commonwealth University Massey Cancer Center. The center officially opened on Monday, Oct. 1, with a grand opening event that featured yoga and tai chi demonstrations, healthy snacks, blood pressure screenings and more.
In conjunction with the opening of the Healthy Living and Learning Center, Massage School San Diego has released a list of tips for staying healthy in the upcoming fall season:
- Get your flu shot.
- Be prepared for the cold weather.
- Always wash your hands.
- Stay active, even when you can’t go outdoors.
- Stay hydrated.
- Get lots of rest.

Founded in 1974, Massey is a non-profit center that provides research, clinical trials and treatment options for cancer patients and offers training for local oncologists. The center is a National Cancer Institute-recognized facility, designating it as one of the top 4 percent of centers in the U.S.
