Rounding up just the change, not a dollar, has in turn helped make a change in the local animal welfare community.

As the dust settles on 2012, Healthy Spot has tallied the amount their customers have “rounded up” for charity. As an example of their many philanthropic programs, “Round Up for Rescues” raised an astonishing amount of much-needed funds for local animal welfare. Along with other events and involvement within the communities their pet retail stores are located in, Healthy Spot continues to set a positive example with their business practices and within the pet industry.

When you make a purchase at any of Healthy Spot’s three Los Angeles locations, a staff member may ask if you would like to “round up” the change to an even dollar amount for charity. Co-owners Andrew Kim and Mark Boonnak, implemented this thoughtful concept to their business practices back when they opened their first location in 2008.

“We started the round up program because we felt that Healthy Spot could serve as an instrument to the community. People who shop with us love their animals and we are asking them for their change. Not a dollar. Just the change to round up, which in turns helps make a change in the local animal welfare community. As cheesy as it sounds, a little change together can make a big difference,” co-owner Andrew Kim shared.

This “little change” collected totaled over $65,000 this year alone for charitable non-profit animal rescue groups. Healthy Spot is very proud of the success of this program. Rounding up just the change, not a dollar, has in turn helped make a change in the local animal welfare community.

Taking their community involvement the extra mile, Healthy Spot closes its daycares every Sunday to open the space to local animal groups. They use the space free of charge and utilize the opportunity to bring awareness to the community regarding pet adoption. Healthy Spot is a mainstay in the Los Angeles dog community, spearheading educational as well as philanthropic initiatives to create awareness of and fundraise for charitable, not-for-profit humane and rescue organizations. Healthy Spot’s philanthropic programs include a full calendar of local and regional events benefitting multiple animal rescue and adoption organizations.

Please join Healthy Spot in celebrating the New Year and their contributions, with the help of their passionate clients “rounding up”, to the community and animal welfare.
