“In Healthy U, we were thrilled to find a local company that could help support our wellness initiative by providing healthy snack and beverage options to our over 1,200 employees," said Merrick Dresnin, Hyatt Regency Chicago’s Director of Human Resources
McHenry, IL (PRWEB) July 26, 2010
Healthy U announced today that by contracting with Hyatt Regency Chicago, The Chicago Academy for the Arts (CAA), Jeron® Electronic Systems, GNP Management Group and Midwest Foods it has expanded its reach beyond the northern suburbs to provide healthy vending machines to employees and students in the city of Chicago.
Founded in the spring of 2009, Healthy U is the brainchild of pharmaceutical industry veteran T Hephner, who has a passion for healthy and sustainable living and saw an unmet need in schools and businesses to provide all-natural, organic and locally sourced snack and beverage options to children and adults through healthy vending.
Since its launch, Healthy U has seen steady growth in northern Chicagoland suburban schools and businesses and, in 2010, set the goal to expand into the city of Chicago.
“We are thrilled to be expanding our business into the Chicago market and bringing healthy snack and beverage alternatives to employees and students in the city,” said T Hephner, founder and CEO of Healthy U. “And, to be able to partner with Hyatt Regency Chicago, the largest hotel in the Midwest, as well as CAA, Jeron, GNP and Midwest Foods within the first six months of the year, is incredibly exciting.”
From the perspectives of businesses and schools, it’s another way to provide employees and students with healthier eating options while helping to address the escalating obesity and healthcare crisis in this country.
“It is an ongoing initiative by Hyatt Regency Chicago to provide the best workplace environment for our employees and that includes initiatives for healthier eating and living,” said Merrick Dresnin, Hyatt Regency Chicago’s Director of Human Resources. “In partnering with Healthy U, we were thrilled to find a local company that could help support our wellness initiative by providing healthy snack and beverage options to our over 1,200 employees.”
In addition to the above mentioned Chicago-based clients, Healthy U has partnered with many schools and businesses in the northern suburbs. Some of these include District 155 high schools in McHenry County, Crystal Lake South, Crystal Lake Central, Cary-Grove and Prairie Ridge, and corporate clients, Omeda, Medela, First Institute, Layton Athletics and the Cities of McHenry and Crystal Lake.
All Healthy U foods and beverages are taste tested and must meet stringent standards, including no trans fats, partially hydrogenated oils, high-fructose corn syrup, or artificial sweeteners, preservatives or colors. Instead, Healthy U stocks foods and beverages containing only all-natural ingredients that are locally sourced and certified organic whenever possible.
While they change according to popularity and request, a few of the great-tasting, all-natural snack and beverage brands that will be regularly stocked in the machines include: Rock N Roll Gourmet’s Hippie Chips, Pirate’s Booty, Clif Bar and Talking Rain.
