Helene Phillips, Emmy award nominated director, choreographer and professional dancer, has been fostering the careers of the world's top dancers for over a decade. Phillips, one of the original Solid Gold Dancers, has worked with the top names in the entertainment industry including Michael Jackson, John Travolta, and George Lucas.
Phillips has prepared dancers from around the globe to tour with the likes of Madonna, Pink, Justin Timberlake and Celine Deon. Each week, Helene conducts her master class at the Edge Dance Studio in Hollywood (http://www.edgepac.com). The class, esteemed by industry professionals, takes the dancers through a rigorous ride that improves their minds, bodies and souls.
Addie Yungmee, one of Phllips' elite dancers, started with Phillips just before (or prior to) her eighteenth birthday. Now, after touring with Madonna and Celine Deon, she is on Pink's World Tour. Addie's reputation as a consummate professional with a resume that speaks for itself easily makes her one of the most successful professional dancers in the industry. A strikingly beautiful and elegant woman, Addie attributes her success to the guidance that Helene has provided her throughout the years.
Phillips and Addie have a deep understanding of the business that resonates through both of their careers. Each of them shares a practical yet holistic approach to dance that sets them apart within their niche in the industry.
Addie explains, "I believe everyone can dance and make it a career, if you persevere. As far as my own experience, I am a dancer/performer to the core of my being and cannot separate the two. It would be an inhale without an exhale, and my life would be unclear. As far as the career side of dance, this is separate to me and I have been in the business long enough to have a full career which gives me knowledge that the jobs and tours do not make or even define me because my heart of dance is so much deeper."
Phillips, known for her mantra of keeping it "real" feels equally as inspired by her work with her students, Her relationship with them continues beyond the four walls of the studios, and is integrated not only into her personal life but also in her professional one - directing and choreographing. Phillips is currently working on several projects for both television and live venues, projects for which she plans to integrate her dancers; specifically Addie.
Phillips says, "Addie Yungmee is a performer that stands apart from the rest. As a dancer/actress, her formula for success stems from hard work, determination and always staying passionate. From her inner core, she breathes an energy that exudes all that is creative, soulful and most important, REAL!!"
Please stay tuned for forthcoming announcements regarding Phillips and her upcoming projects, which are sure to change the face of the dance and entertainment industries.
