Covering 20 years of travel experience, “Rocks in Her Head or How I Became a Rolling Stone” relates the journeys of Smart and her husband as they lived and traveled in foreign countries, including Libya, Israel, Turkey, Italy, Colombia and Mexico. These anecdotes describe the many adventures Smart enjoyed over two decades of traveling.
An excerpt from “Rocks in Her Head or How I Became a Rolling Stone”:
“Europe was familiar to me. In 1957, I had been on a three-month study tour of the continent. Flying in those days was very expensive. The only affordable choice across the Atlantic was by ship, a five-day voyage. Now here I was crossing the same ocean in a matter of hours, off to a land I’d heard of since childhood.”
Smart hopes that her book will inspire young women to be confident and self-reliant as she was when facing the challenges of foreign lands.
