In “MOLECULES and the Chemical Bond: An Introduction to Conceptual Valence Bond Theory” (published by Trafford Publishing), author Henry A. Bent’s new chemistry book, he invites readers to join him as he explores molecular models of striking simplicity and extraordinary explanatory power.
A readable, richly illustrated, student-friendly account of molecular structure. “MOLECULES and the Chemical Bond” presents readers with new uses of classical bond diagrams, including their simple transformation into three dimensional models at molecular electron density profiles.
Bent hopes that, after putting down his book, readers will have gained an intuitive understanding of chemically significant features of solutions of Schrödinger’s equation for chemical systems, including an immediate understanding of the saturation and directional character of primary and secondary chemical affinities, an enhanced appreciation for Conceptual Valence Bond Theory, an improved understanding of the nature of an inductive science, and increased self-confidence in their ability to draw scientifically sound bond diagrams for molecules.
