Achieving the State of Sabai is bliss!
SabaiSpa™ brings the Luk Pra Kob, translated from Thai as “pressing herbal sphere,” or Herbal Ball, as a method of treatment employed in traditional Thai Medicine. It is used to provide the same type of stimulation as acupressure along energy channels, known as Sen Sib lines in Thailand. Thai Herbal Ball massage is rapidly growing in the West due to the many added benefits that herbs and heat provide over most other traditional treatments. It is also beneficial as a method for relief of arthritis, back pain, sports injuries, fibromalgia, and other chronic modalities.
The herbal ball treatment is traditionally a hot treatment. The ball is pressed along the Sen Sib lines, or acupressure zones, of the body in a series of motions that include: a pressing with steady downward pressure; a “rock ‘n roll” or back and forth motion; a “rolling” or orbital circular motion; and a “dragging” motion, which is used to increase blood flow and lymphatic drainage. The SabaiSpa™ Ball is used in combination with traditional Thai or Swedish massage, or as a tool to work on specific parts of the body that need special attention for muscular tightness or pain.
Some of the herbs in the SabaiSpa™ Ball include Lemongrass, Turmeric, Prai, Kaffir Lime, Camphor, and Tamarind. Commonly accepted benefits of these herbs include anti-inflammatory properties, especially when applied topically to contusions, or sprains; antiseptic properties that can soothe and heal the skin; and astringent values that draw out toxins to purify the skin, while at the same time having a cleansing affect that promotes healing and soothes the skin. These herbs are well-known in Thai saunas, hospitals, health clubs, and spas for their use in aromatherapy and upper respiratory therapy.
The blend of herbs used by SabaiSpa™ Products, is the traditional recipe of the Wat Po temple in Bangkok. SabaiSpa™ herbal balls, manufactured in Chiang Mai, are certified by the government as authentic. To ensure quality and consistency of treatment, we control the entire process– from the selection of quality of the herbs from the local Chiang Mai Farmer to the final deliver to their customers. This process includes the ball composition, kiln drying, sanitation, manufacture, Thai certification, packaging, and shipping.
