Covina, CA (PRWEB) February 29, 2012
Olson Homes, Southern California’s leading developer of in-town living, is proud to announce that its new community Citrus Walk is among a host of other new improvements in the community of Covina. While Olson is building the mixed-use community of Citrus Walk to enliven and rejuvenate downtown Covina, the Covina Redevelopment Agency is celebrating the official grand opening of Heritage Plaza Park this week. Simultaneously, the City of Covina is working on studies to improve the pedestrian connections in the downtown area, and recently completed a bike plan for the City.
Citrus Walk, the Olson Company’s fifth new urban living residential development in the Covina area, brings a new style of in-town living to Covina, offering fresh thinking, innovative design, and modern style. The Citrus Walk community features 37 townhomes and 8,000 square feet of new retail space along downtown Covina’s Citrus Avenue, with 8 flats offered as affordable housing over the new retail storefronts. The townhomes, each with approximately 1,600 square feet and three stories, have 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and 1-2 powder rooms, and 2-car garages. The recently released flats offer up to 1500 square feet, 3 bedrooms and several floor plan options.
The homes, built to exceed LEED green living standards, feature energy efficient amenities including Energy Star appliances; water efficient and lead-free faucets; highly water efficient toilets; auto shut-off motion sensors in all baths, space saving tank-less water heaters, and built-in recycle bins, among many other features.
“The Olson Company is proud to be a partner in the Covina community,” said Scott Laurie, President of Olson Homes. “We are creating a residential community that will be an important part of the local landscape, as well as providing an opportunity for increased revenues for the city through new retailers.”
The Citrus Walk community is adjacent to the all new Heritage Park Plaza, a Covina Redevelopment Agency project. The Plaza, resulting in a transformation of Downtown Civic Center Park, will feature a platform stage for open-air performances, a “Heritage Walk” with historical city elements, a tot lot, and a revamped courtyard/town square. Designed to improve park function, the updates will add additional trees and retain as many of the existing trees as possible. The park is now open to and providing enjoyment to all current Citrus Walk homeowners, giving Citrus Walk residents a beautiful park in their very own “backyard.”
The City’s Metrolink station is two blocks north of the Citrus Walk community. The City is working to enhance pedestrian connections with transit in the downtown area to encourage residents to take advantage of the various public transportation options available to them. Covina is one of only a few cities that offer a Bikestation bicycle storage facility at the Metrolink Station, allowing residents the freedom to ride their bikes to the station and store them in a safe and secure location.
The Olson Company’s numerous successful urban living developments across Southern California over the last 22 years reflect its commitment to today’s homebuyer. The Olson Company has garnered prestigious Eliant Awards for homeowner satisfaction, including a recent overall win for Mosaic Walk, which was in first place from almost 900 nationwide home communities. The Olson Company believes in “livability,” and implements a thoughtful and detail-oriented approach from concept through execution. As part of their unique approach to creating these communities, The Olson Company understands all that goes into buying a new home and provides ongoing tailored services to support the needs of its homeowners, including financial education and the exclusive Homeowner Champion Program.
