HeroesAndRibbons.com and my music video, “These Are My Heroes,” serve as reminders that no red-blooded American should ever forget the great risk takers that achieved lofty goals and attained an everlasting place in American history.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) June 11, 2010
Legendary American composer and lyricist L. Russell Brown will perform in “The Songs of Our Lives, Volume III” at Wadsworth Theatre in Brentwood, CA, on Monday, June 14, 2010. The concert starts promptly at 7:30P.M. and will also feature award-winning songwriters and guest stars Tony Orlando and Julia Fordham.
The third annual event was created by Charles Fox and his wife Joan to benefit the Fulfillment Fund, an organization that provides disadvantaged youth with the support to graduate from high-school and access to a college education. In addition to L. Russell Brown, “The Songs of Our Lives” lineup features award-winning artists Stephen Bishop, Mac Davis, Dean Pitchford and Neil Sedaka. Fox, whose signature songs include “I Got a Name” and “Killing Me Softly,” will also perform for the event.
“All of these incredible songwriters come together, on one stage, to perform their greatest and most famous songs sung by the artists who wrote them,” says Fox. “At the same time, they will be helping to support the education of at-risk students by providing them with the resources to go to college.”
Brown’s participation in the Fulfillment Fund benefit concert is not the music artist’s first contribution to education. Recently Brown launched HeroesAndRibbons.com, a website targeting K-12 educators and students. Heroes and Ribbons offers free educational resources for teachers to incorporate into their existing curriculum. Suggested activities and lesson plans are divided into three different categories: preschool through grade 1; grades 2-5; and grades 9-12.
The Heroes and Ribbons website also features a store with original music and an original DVD created by Brown. “HeroesAndRibbons.com and my music video, "These Are My Heroes," are personal milestones,” says Brown. “The website and the video serve as reminders that no red-blooded American should ever forget the great risk takers that achieved lofty goals and attained an everlasting place in American history.” L. Russell Brown’s other musical talents include “Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree,” “Knock Three Times” and “Sock It To Me Baby.”
Tickets for “The Songs of Our Lives, Volume III” start at $150 for individual balcony seats and sponsor packages starting at $2,500. The event, which expects over 1,000 guests in attendance, is co-chaired by Del Bryant, Dan Foliart, Dave Johnson, Quincy Jones, Jay Landers, Milt Okun and Paul Williams.
