New York City’s newest social media startup is designed to bring New Yorkers together to practice, play and learn in their own neighborhoods. HeyKiki.com is a new social platform that connects local trainers, teachers and instructors with local learners. People who want to do more with the time they have. It’s also a platform that helps neighbors find like-minded practice, workout and activity partners so they can connect for everything from jogging to playing music to math.
“HeyKiki is a social platform that’s more about stepping away from your computer and smart phone and being more active and social, in person," says Joe Vadakkekara, HeyKiki Co-founder. “We believe social media tools can facilitate productive and healthy connections with more time spent doing the things you love in your community. It's about living your life instead of just posting and tweeting about it."
Because of this, the site is designed as a user-friendly way to find local practice and activity partners based on ratings, reviews, referrals and parameters that include activity preference and geographic location.
Jared Holman, HeyKiki member and basketball junkie, connected with people in his neighborhood to play pick-up basketball games after work. "It was great to find someone of the same skill level to play ball with," says Holman. "Thanks to HeyKiki we have a semi-regular weekly game."
Once users have connected with a practice partner of their choice through HeyKiki, they can meet offline with the added motivation of having a partner to make jogging, biking, cooking or any activity a fun and social experience.
HeyKiki also facilitates connections with trainers, teachers and instructors who post their classes for free in the HeyKiki directory, allowing members to use neighborhood specific searches to identify them. Additionally, HeyKiki helps broaden instructor exposure through its social media channels and featured instructor and class promotions.
HeyKiki is a social platform connecting knowledge-seeking individuals with trusted local instructors and practice partners. With opportunities existing for both students and teachers in any activity ranging from sports and fitness to languages, music and a myriad of creative and performing arts, HeyKiki is a diverse, content rich community based in New York City and was founded in 2009.
