NJSCPA Connect Is Accruing New Community Members Daily

Integrating our Higher Logic social networking community with our Aptify system was crucial. It saves our members time since they didn't need to create their profiles from scratch.

Higher Logic, the leading professional social networking applications provider for non-profits and associations, announced that the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accounts (NJSCPA) launched NJSCPA Connect, a secure social media forum for member collaboration. Using their new on-line community, members can contact one another, search for colleagues with similar locations or interests and form discussion groups. Since the site launched two weeks ago, NJSCPA Connect has over 1100 active members.

The NJSCPA has been using public social media tools and making its presence known on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. However, the Society wanted a solution that integrated their Aptify Association Management System with their social media platform. Higher Logic’s Connected Community™ software integrates with Aptify’s database so that membership information and other key data are pre-populated on the community site. According to Rachael Bell, NJSCPA Online Communications Manager, “Integrating our social networking community with our Aptify system was crucial. It saves our members time since they did not need to create their profiles from scratch.”

Members have access to a plethora of useful information including announcements, discussions, professional news, upcoming events and a list of most engaged members. Using eGroups, members are empowered to form communities based on interests, committee involvement or any other grouping and then easily communicate between members both online and via e-mail.

“Members who were already involved with our committees and interest groups are finding the process of being involved in those groups much easier now,” stated Ms. Bell. “It’s visually and technically more user-friendly, and the powerful search capabilities include archives of past messages and documents that have been posted, searches by name, company, interests or any number of demographic factors.”

The NJSCPA is seeing very positive results based on member feedback. According to Society member James C. Bourke, CPA.CITP.CFF, Partner at WithumSmith+Brown, “ is a cutting edge social networking site, built around the needs and interests of our members. Unlike LinkedIn, Facebook and other public sites, our private social networking site has members’ interests in mind.” Higher Logic CEO Rob Wenger adds, “The NJSCPA is a great example of how an association uses Connected Community to bring a new dimension of value to its members. Once members become active in their site, they find new and creative benefits that enhance not only their membership, but also their approach to their jobs.”
