CIBER and HighJump Software Enhance Warehouse Efficiency for Largest
New York Wine and Spirits Distributor
GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo. & EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) October 6, 2008 --
CIBER, Inc. (NYSE: CBR) and HighJump Software today announced a major
milestone in their work with Brooklyn-based Empire Merchants LLC, the
largest wine and spirits distributor in metropolitan New York. Empire
Merchants engaged CIBER to implement the HighJump warehouse management
system (WMS), to enhance their inventory and distribution efficiencies.
Empire and CIBER completed the phase I WMS implementation in Empire’s
Brooklyn, New York facility. The second phase of the implementation will
be in Empire’s Astoria, New York facility,
scheduled for January, 2009.
Empire Merchants, which ships in excess of 10 million units per year,
looks forward to realizing significant improvements that will help the
company maintain its competitiveness and leadership role in the
industry. Improvements will include:
-
Increased inventory accuracy and real-time inventory capabilities
-
A more streamlined inventory replenishment process
-
Trucks being loaded on time or ahead of schedule
-
Operational efficiencies in receiving and put-away
Empire Merchants LLC was created in February 2007 through the
combination of two New York area wine and spirits distributors—Peerless
Importers and Charmer Industries. The company currently operates two
separate facilities as a result of the business combination. In January
2009 all shipping operations will be consolidated into one distribution
center, and the other distribution center will serve as a storage and
replenishment site.
CIBER has worked with Empire for the past 18 months helping them
identify opportunities for supply chain performance improvement,
identifying areas of cost reduction, and developing key performance
indicators to measure progress.
“We chose CIBER as our implementation and
integration partner based on their previous project experience with us
and their history of significant implementations with other wine and
spirits distributors,” said Tony Magliocco,
Empire Merchants’ Chief Operating Officer. “We’re
thrilled with the success of the implementation in our Brooklyn facility
and with the operational improvements we’ve
seen with the HighJump system.”
“HighJump Software and CIBER have a strong
track record of partnering to deliver powerful warehouse management
solutions to wine and spirits distributors,”
said Timothy Campbell, President and CEO, HighJump Software. “With
HighJump Software, companies like Empire Merchants can easily manage the
complexities of beverage distribution while keeping total cost of
ownership low.”
“We are pleased to have developed such a
strong working partnership with Empire Merchants and to be a contributor
to the streamlining successes that they have enjoyed,”
said Cal Petty, Director of CIBER’s Supply
Chain Practice. “CIBER has long-standing
experience within the food and beverage industry and is delighted to
have helped such a large organization increase its supply chain
efficiencies and to position itself for success for years to come.”
