Deploying St. Croix's EAM solutions has allowed our Equipment Pool to significantly increase equipment availability, gain the trust of the caregivers, and reduce operational costs by as much as $80,000 per month.
Waltham, MA. and New Orleans, LA. (HIMSS 2013) (PRWEB) February 28, 2013
St. Croix Systems, the leading provider of hospital Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solutions, today announced that Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), a Level 1 trauma center and general hospital based in Portland, Oregon, has received an industry award for its innovative integration of St. Croix Systems’ asset management workflow products with infusion pumps and a Wi-Fi RFID tracking system.
The Intelligent Hospital Awards by the RFID in Healthcare Consortium (RHCC) and Intelligent Hopital.org will be presented at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2013 Conference and Exhibition (March 4, 2013) with OHSU receiving the Best Comprehensive Integration Award. OHSU was recognized for its internal collaboration and co-development the interface with St. Croix Systems’ web-based asset management software platform to further streamline and automate management of mobile medical equipment to maximize equipment utilization, improve availability and regulatory compliance.
“Collaborating on technology initiatives like those with organizations like OHSU is at the heart of our company’s mission to deliver financial, operational, and supply chain efficiency by implementing effective asset management workflow solutions,” said Hank Goddard, CEO, St. Croix Systems. “I am particularly excited about this award because it builds upon our existing Epic interface at OHSU and supports our vision of interconnectivity between systems to improve operational efficiency, safety, patient care and financial results.”
By working with St. Croix Systems, OSHU has realized significant improvements in its ability to cut operating costs and recapture capital from underutilized assets while improving patient and caregiver satisfaction.
According to Rita Wells, manager, hospital transportation, equipment pool services & nursing procurement at OHSU, “Deploying St. Croix's solutions has allowed our Equipment Pool to significantly increase equipment availability, gain the trust of the caregivers, and reduce operational costs by as much as $80,000.00 per month.”
St. Croix Systems’ asset management workflow solutions have provided OHSU the ability to control the flow of mobile medical equipment — knowing where assets are coming from and going to — while ensuring proper cleaning and maintenance. In reference to St. Croix’s asset management solutions, Dennis Minsent, director, clinical technology services, OHSU, said “asset management is a key piece of being able to better manage equipment with an expanding census, without adding equipment and people. The objective is to maximize the utilization of our existing resources and to appropriately and prudently spend the capital dollars that we do have. To do this, we need to focus on quick turns on the equipment and high availability."
Notably, these results were obtained prior to the implementation of the RTLS tracking system. Efficiencies and equipment availability will continue to improve by integrating RTLS and infusion pumps into the asset management platform.
This award follows four other industry awards for innovative asset management solutions co-developed and deployed with St. Croix Systems’ customers.
- IDN Summit Supply Chain Innovation Award for Asset Investment Recovery (AIR), a workflow solution to streamline and automate the redeployment and disposition of assets.
- Premier Healthcare Alliance Exceptional Supply Chain Innovation Award for Asset Investment Recovery (AIR), a workflow solution to streamline and automate the redeployment and disposition of assets.
- Premier Healthcare Alliance Exceptional Supply Chain Innovation Award for Service Center Manager (SCM), a workflow solution to streamline and automate support service requests.
- Premier Healthcare Alliance Exceptional Supply Chain Innovation Award for Mobile Equipment Deployment Solution (MEDS), a workflow solution to streamline and automate mobile equipment management across the request-fulfill-use-return-clean cycle.
“I am thrilled that St. Croix Systems has so many forward-thinking customers that help to keep us on the leading edge of healthcare transformation”, said Goddard. “This is a challenging time in healthcare, but by working closely with customers and partners we are finding innovative ways to reduce costs while improving quality of care and staff satisfaction.”
