“Tokyo in hipix” demonstrates the different aspects of HM’s hipix® technology, which is available for various OS, including Windows, Linux, iOS and Android. The album's images total over 2 GIGAPIXELS, with single images topping 300 Megapixels, all contained in a single 100 Megabyte hipix® mp4 file!

hipix® supplies an interactive, enhanced, image browsing and sharing experience enriched with sound, animation, links, text and more, turning each image into a gateway of information. The application allows viewers to easily attach their own voice recordings, links and text to desired locations within the image, on top of the metadata supplied as part of the application.

“Tokyo in hipix” includes 24 high quality pictures of Tokyo, based on a set of brilliant images by photographer Tomoyuki Uchida of Yun Photo , enhanced with interesting links, sound and animation made possible by Human-Monitoring's patented hipix® technology (US8019167). Thanks to H.264 hardware acceleration support, currently used by the hipix® implementation layer, and the advanced display techniques utilized, the ultra-high resolution viewing experience is impeccable, not only on iPad 3 and 2, but even on the iPad 1.

“hipix® redefines still images, allowing them to become higher resolution, rich media experiences - something that cannot be done using traditional formats” commented Chris Hare, Chief Strategy Officer of HM and former Head of Industry Collaboration at Sony Ericsson.

The strong, on device, image compression and rich image capabilities of hipix are made available to developers in the form of a software development kit allowing them to be embedded within applications and services. Publishers can produce advanced, practically unlimited resolution content, at a fraction of the sizes typical to existing content types, while supporting searchable, formatted text, embedded sound, animation, links, interactivity and much more.

“hipix® was designed to change the way people use and experience still images. Once one uses these media-rich images, there's no way back. The hipix® file format is extremely efficient on mobile devices, since it unifies mobile and still compression schemes, utilizing the existing , HW supported industry standard H.264, which exists on any mobile device. Supporting hipix® is a "no brainer" requiring just a small addition to the mp4 container. It is future proof, and once H.265 succeeds H.264, hipix® will seamlessly benefit from it. Though the "Tokyo in hipix" album is built for the iPad, hipix® is available to developers for iOS, Android, PC and other platforms, with full hardware support being added by top media and application processor vendors. Soon, we will introduce the same advanced capabilities even to sub 100$ Android tablets." says Ira Dvir, the company’s co-founder and VP R&D.

We invite everyone to download this great album, as well as other hipix® tools, currently available for free, and experience hipix® photo browsing.
