The Staten Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SIHCC) will close out Hispanic Heritage Month on Staten Island by hosting its First Annual Gala on October 11th, 2012 at The Vanderbilt. This landmark event will feature business networking opportunities, fine cuisine, and a special live performance by salsa legend José Alberto “El Canario."
In addition, the chamber will announce the winners of its annual scholarships, given to exemplary students of Hispanic descent, which will be presented by elected officials State Senator Diane Savino (D- Brooklyn, Staten Island) and Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (R- Brooklyn, Staten Island).
"We are honored to be in a position to host such an event for our members and the community," said Angel Rosario, President of the SIHCC. "We are also excited to be presenting scholarships to outstanding students of Hispanic descent, and extend our thanks to both Senator Savino and Assemblywoman Malliotakis for their support."
In addition to the presentation of scholarships, the awards portion of the evening will also honor local Hispanic-owned small business Doco Entertainment.
