On Tuesday June 26th, pro snowboarder, Eero Niemela of Cardiff-by-the Sea, California, hit a hole in one worth $25,000 cash paid for by hole in one insurance provider US Hole In One. Using his 9-Iron, Niemela aced hole #4 which was playing 171 yards that day. The tournament took place at Trump National Golf Club in Palos Verdes, CA and was to benefit the Sheckler Foundation. The Sheckler Foundation was founded in 2008 by pro skateboarder, Ryan Scheckler. The foundation raises money for various charities but remains focused on their main goal which is to help children and action athletes who have been injured doing the sports they love. This year’s tournament raised $150,000 for Sheckler Foundation's Be the Change program.
The hole in one insurance was provided by US Hole In One and was sponsored by Skyler Brucher, CEO of Loyalsky Apparel. This was Brucher’s first time sponsoring a hole in one contest and he was quite pleased that he had a winner but even happier that he purchased hole in one insurance. According to Brucher, “Hole In One insurance was a totally new thing to me but I was so happy to work with US Hole In One. I can’t believe we had a winner at my very first charity tournament but I can’t wait to build an awesome relationship with US Hole In One. They really helped make the tournament stand out from the rest. All of the celebrities that attended this tournament wee really stoked to hear about the concept of hole in one insurance too. We will be purchasing coverage from US Hole in One for many years to come!”
Greg Esterhai, President and CEO of US Hole In One, commented on the importance of getting hole in one insurance, “When it comes down to it, the benefits of purchasing hole in one insurance far exceed the disappointment that can come from an unrewarded hole in one. Hole in one insurance is very affordable and it really helps to enhance the tournament. The added incentive of taking home a big prize definitely encourages golfers to sign up and donate even more to the cause at hand. Securing prize coverage is as simple as choosing a prize, telling us the number of golfers at your event, and designating which par 3 hole you'll hold the contest on”.
Prices for hole in one insurance start as low as $180 which includes coverage for the main prize hole as well as coverage for bonus prizes on the additional par three holes on the course. Those bonus prizes are a set of Callaway golf clubs, airline tickets for two anywhere in the continental United States and a Sharp LCD television. US Hole In One also provides each golfer in the event with a $15 gift card to GolfDiscount.com and a certificate for a free wedge and hybrid club from Warrior golf.
