Homeschool Day at Cracker Country Features Make and Take Crafts

Tampa, Fla. (March 8, 2019) – Mildred W. and Doyle E. Carlton, Jr. Cracker Country welcomes home educators and students to enjoy Homeschool Day on March 12, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Students will learn about the lives of settlers in rural Florida before the turn of the 20th century through hands-on activities that would have been familiar to a child growing up in a Florida farming community over 100 years ago.

Back by popular demand, the theme of the event is Make and Take Crafts.

Educators in historic dress will be on hand to welcome guests to the 1885 Carlton House, railroad depot, general store, church, and more authentic structures. Along the way, young learners will make their own toys, dolls, and household items. They will also learn to operate an early 20th-century printing press and make their own postcard.

Homeschool Day activities are designed to capture the interests of students of all ages. Groups can tour at their own pace and choose their level of participation.

Tickets are available for online purchase at http://www.crackercountry.org. This event is very popular, so advance ticket purchase is recommended. Admission is $8 per person ages four and up. Children ages three and under are admitted free. Visitors will receive FREE parking for this event when they enter the Fairgrounds via the Orient Road entrance.
