“Budgeting money is one thing no home inspection school I know of teaches”
West Paterson, NJ (PRWEB) September 3, 2010
Accurate Inspections, Inc., is proud to announce free information and software for people who want to learn how to become a home inspector. This is a must read for those who want to become home inspectors written by licensed New Jersey home inspector, Michael Del Greco. Also available is free software to help those who want to become home inspectors to run a successful home inspection business.
“Often times, home inspection schools leave students with the impression they are taught all the necessary skills to become a home inspector right away,” says Michael Del Greco, President of Accurate Inspections, Inc. “These technical skills are definitely vital, but so are other skill sets that home inspection schools seldom teach.”
Del Greco wants those who want to become home inspectors to be aware of the time it will take for them to become skilled at writing inspection reports. Most states and a majority of courts expect home inspectors to write reports that clearly state what defect is found and the significance of the defect. Schools are likely to teach home inspectors technical details, for example, like how far metal smoke pipes carrying hot exhaust gases between furnace and chimneys must be from combustibles. Students quickly realize, some by accidentally touching the pipe, how hot the smoke pipe is. Newer home inspectors are likely to be aware the pipe gets hot. However, home inspectors who do not yet understand what their responsibilities are, may not clearly indicate the significance of the finding -- as in a potential house fire. Home inspectors must quickly figure out how to write home inspection reports that clearly indicate the significance of their findings and detail all the major problems with homes.
“Those who do not figure it out quickly end up being taught how to do so by the courts, clients and others,” says Del Greco.
Accurate Inspections’ software helps newer home inspectors determine how many hours it actually takes to perform a home inspection and how much it actually costs the inspector to perform one.
“Budgeting money is one thing no home inspection school I know of teaches,” says Del Greco. “Newer home inspectors are likely to be under the mistaken impression each inspection takes just a few hours.”
As users customize the home inspection business software, it becomes clear, more time is expended and the profit margin is less than anticipated.
Use of the software is the first step in creating a budget and business plan that every home inspector needs in order to run a successful home inspection business. Learning the technical information each home inspector must know, developing a business plan, simultaneously running the business while juggling the responsibilities of being a business owner and developing the skills necessary to be a good home inspector is a big challenge.
Those first entering the home inspection business will find Accurate Inspections’ information to provide insight into how the home inspection business works and also the education and training necessary to own and operate a successful home inspection business.
