Sometimes they [buyers] look for a home to purchase, find the "perfect" home, but are not in a position to make an offer because they didn't take the time to prepare.

Homes.org has teamed up with real estate professionals to create the Homebuyer's Organization Guide. The guide helps homebuyers keep everything in order throughout the home buying process, which many professionals agree is an essential part of a successful home purchase.

In fact, not being organized made it on the list of top mistakes home buyers make. Experts like Monique Bryher, Broker-associate/Realtor® at Pinnacle Estate Properties, stressed that having everything in order can make or break a deal. "Sometimes they [buyers] look for a home to purchase, find the "perfect" home, but are not in a position to make an offer because they didn't take the time to prepare and get a pre-approval. Sometimes they have the pre approval but do not have all their tax returns and other documents ready," explains Bryher. "When they make their offer, delays then occur because the lender cannot obtain underwriting approval pending receipt of the paperwork. Buyers, especially first-time buyers, can be resistant to their agent's advice to have all their paperwork in order."

The Homebuyers Organization Guide includes:

  •     Checklist of paperwork you need to prepare for a pre-approval, submitting an offer and closing on a home
  •     Answers to common buyer questions
  •     Tips for how to keep everything in order during the home buying process

The home buying process can be very long and involves myriad of requirements, documents and people. Agents and lenders alike have seen a number of contracts fall through and buyers lose out on getting a home simply because the buyer didn't have necessary paperwork prepared or they didn't complete requirements within a set deadline. The Homebuyer's Organization Guide aims to provide buyers with the information they need to ensure they have everything they need every step of the way.
