Introducing Charitable Donors to a Paterson, NJ Village for the Poor - Eva's Village, Presents 'Virtual Tour' 2008 Visions of Hope Gala

Eva's Village, (www.evasvillage.org), Paterson, NJ, announces gala event to help fund four-mission plan to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, treat the addicted and provide medical care to the poor with respect for the human dignity of each individual. Eva's Village is actively seeking gala attendees, donors, charitable contributions and volunteers to help them serve this deserving community in New Jersey.

Paterson, NJ (PRWEB) September 16, 2008 -- Eva's Village, Paterson, NJ has the unique problem of doing so much to help some of America's poorest citizens that donors find it hard to comprehend. To solve the problem, Eva's Village is bringing almost an even dozen social programs housed in as many buildings spanning three inner city blocks to donors attending the annual Eva's Village Gala being held this year on October 16, 2008 at Mayfair Farms, West Orange, NJ.

Eva's mission to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless (including women with children), treat the addicted and provide medical care to the poor will be presented as a 'virtual tour' at the Gala, titled Visions of Hope. "Too often, our donors don't realize all we do at Eva's Village, but that's not going to happen this year", comments Eva's Village board member and Gala Committee Chairperson, Michael Tortora.

Eva's Village board members, staff and volunteers have joined together to present gala attendees with beautifully decorated bedrooms from Eva's Hope Residence of St. Frances for Mothers with Children; a dental exam room from the Eva's Village free medical clinic; a recreation of the cheerful Eva's Kitchen that serves 1,000 hot meals per day, and more.

"The need for donations to fund our many anti-poverty programs keeps rising, but when donors see all that Eva's Village does, they are so generous it just astounds me," says Executive Director, Sister Gloria Perez, "Eva's Village, and the poor we serve, are truly blessed with the best donors and volunteers in America".

Sister Gloria points to the example of Richard and Aleta Taylor, owners of Machinery Service Corp., and Rapid Pump & Meter Service Co., Inc., both long-time Paterson, NJ community activists, who quickly stepped in as the Major Event Sponsor to make the event successful.

Machinery Service Corp., and Rapid Pump & Meter Service Co., Inc., of Paterson, NJ are the Major Event Sponsors. Since 1978, Machinery Services Corp. has provided superior electrical, mechanical, and fabricating contracting services in Northern New Jersey. Since its inception in 1960, Rapid Pump & Meter Service Co., Inc. has been providing sales, repair and installation, with 24-7 emergency service in the water and wastewater industries throughout Northern New Jersey.

Sister Gloria also cites Joe Piscopo, the 2008 Visions of Hope Honoree and well-known actor, comedian and Spokesperson for Boys and Girls Clubs of New Jersey, plus a long list of personal, corporate, school and community group donors and volunteers being honored at the 2008 Gala for their efforts at the new Hope Residence of St. Frances for women with children.

The Eva's Village "Visions of Hope" benefit Gala, to be held on October 16, 2008 at Mayfair Farms in West Orange, NJ, hopes to raise $600,000 to benefit the expansion of Eva's Village programs to help the poor.

For more information on the "Vision of Hope" Gala Dinner contact: Joey Mazza, Special Event Coordinator - Phone: (973) 523-6220 Ext. 235, Fax (973) 825-7297, Email Joey.Mazza @ evasvillage.org.

Eva's Village encourages donations from outside their Paterson NJ local area and receives donations from all across America. Just because you don't live here doesn't mean you can't do a world of good for the poor", reminds Sister Gloria, who points out that donations and gala reservations are easily made online, at: www.EvasVillage.org

Eva's Village is not your typical food kitchen, homeless shelter, recovery center or medical clinic. It is all of these and more -- a unique social service program where even the most unfortunate are treated with dignity and "where hope begins" for people like Clara, who came to Eva's Village addicted to crack cocaine and pregnant. She thought she could do it all on her own until she ended up homeless and on welfare. Eva's Village Recovery Centers for Women treated Clara's addiction with counseling, education, job training, 12-step programs and support for the transition from addiction to hope, employment and independence. Most important for Clara is that she did not need to give up her son to family or foster care.

Originally a New Jersey soup kitchen, Eva's Village was founded in 1982 by Msgr. Vincent E. Puma in response to the homeless problem in his Paterson, NJ parish. But Msgr. Puma soon realized that a soup kitchen was not enough. With the generous support of donors and private and government grants, Eva's has grown into a full-scale "village" spread over several city blocks with facilities to meet the needs of the homeless, addicted and poor.

Today, Eva's Village is one of the most respected anti-poverty programs in America, with many programs that strive to help residents achieve meaningful and productive lives.
