Orlando, FL (PRWEB) October 17, 2012
Ashton Woods Homes Florida announced today that they had recently completed the solar panel installation on their Overcup model home at their Oakland Park community in Winter Garden.
Ashton Woods Homes has now made it possible for their Oakland Park homebuyers to have the option to contribute to their power use. “We’ve installed a 3.84 kW Photovoltaic Solar Electric System on our model in Oakland Park,” stated Mr. Rob Willets, VP of Purchasing at Ashton Woods Homes Florida. Mr. Willets said that the solar panel system will offset about $75.00 per month on the electricity bill – each month. Additionally, the system feeds power generated right into the power grid, if it is not needed by the load of the home.
While each of the homes built will be “solar-ready,” Ashton Woods Homes’ Overcup model home at Oakland Park has completed the solar panel installation and is now ready for viewing and tours.
“The system is set up with 16 PV Panels all routed through microinverters and include a web-based app that allows you to see how much energy the panels are making each day and throughout the day,” added Mr. Willets. He also explained that Progress Energy gives a watt-to-watt credit for every kW generated by the system and there are also Federal tax credits available through 2016, to help offset the purchase price of the solar panel system.
All of the homes at Oakland Park are also Florida Green Building Coalition certified. The FGBC Green Home Standard indicates the criteria by which a Florida home, new or existing, can be designated green. The Overcup model home with the solar panel installation has received GOLD level certification from the FGBC. “We’re pretty excited about that,” added Mr. Willets.
