Honolulu Cosmetic Dentist Dr. Wynn Okuda has been selected by the American Dental Association as the only Hawaii dentist to present at its 150th Annual Session to be held September 30 to October 4, 2009, at the Hawaii Convention Center. Dr. Okuda will give a lecture on esthetic dentistry as well as participate in an " Education in the Round" live demonstration. He will do a cosmetic dental procedure on a patient live in front of an audience and broadcast via the Internet to dental schools across the country.
Dr. Okuda's first lecture, "Overcoming Challenges of Cosmetic Dentistry and Delivering Natural Esthetics on a Predictable Basis," will be held on Friday, October 2. On Saturday, October 3, he will participate in "Education on the Round", an interactive live-patient procedure conducted in a fully functional dental operatory. Only one of six dentists scheduled to give a live demonstration, Dr. Okuda will present "Solving Anterior Esthetic Restorative Challenges with Composite Resin" from 12 noon to 3 p.m.
"It is truly an honor to be selected, one of six dentists in the nation, to be broadcast to dental schools around the world at the ADA's upcoming Annual Session here in Honolulu," said Dr. Okuda. "The ADA Annual Session brings together leaders in dental practice, research, academics and industry for four days of exceptional learning, and I'm excited to present in front of my peers in my home state."
Recognized internationally in his field, Dr. Okuda became Hawaii's first accredited member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), the world's largest organization in cosmetic dentistry, in 1996. He has served as national president of the AACD and currently sits on the Expert Advisory Board for the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) as the only esthetic advisor in the country for cosmetic dentistry. He is also in on the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of the Academy of General Dentistry.
In addition, Dr. Okuda is active in the community as the founder of " Give Back A Smile," a charitable foundation of the AACD whose mission is to help survivors of domestic violence throughout the nation restoring their smiles and lives through free consultations and cosmetic dental treatment.
