This home provides the community of Brick, NJ a wonderful opportunity to work together to support our veterans and thank them for their service and sacrifice.
BAYONNE, NJ (PRWEB) December 10, 2012
On December 4, 2012, BCB Community Bank signed over the deed and handed house keys over to Chief Petty Officer Colin Redy, USCG (Ret.) and his wife Maura at the BCB Community Bank in Bayonne, NJ. The deed and the key belong to the Redy’s new home, located in Brick, NJ. The home was donated completely mortgage-free to the Redy family to support this service member as he struggles with his physical and psychological combat injuries. The deed was signed over in a small ceremony that included Bayonne Mayor, Mark Smith, as well as representatives from BCB Community Bank and Hope For The Warriors®.
President/CEO, Donald Mindiak commented, “It is with a significant amount of pride and gratitude that we present this token of our thanks and appreciation to a True Hero and his loving family. Chief Petty Officer Redy and his family embody the true spirit of selfless dedication and patriotic duty to the country we all love and cherish. It is our hope that he and his family enjoy their new home for many years to come.”
BCB Community Bank approached nonprofit organization, Hope For The Warriors®, to identify a military family that would benefit from a mortgage-free home. Through their work with military families and their relationships with VA Hospitals and caseworkers, Hope For The Warriors® identified a wounded service member and family in the area.
Both Colin and Maura grew up in Bayville, NJ and graduated from Central Regional High School. Colin was on one of the first boats to work search and rescue after the planes hit the World Trade Center on 9/11. Later he deployed for more than a year to Virginia for training and then to Bahrain for the start of the war. Physically he manages a great deal of pain from problems with his back, knees and shoulders. However, the greatest challenge for Colin and for his family is managing his PTSD. It is a daily struggle that impacts the family physically, emotionally and financially.
Hope For The Warriors® reviewed the needs of the family and realized that the home required renovations to suit this family of six. To complete this project, Hope For The Warriors® has enlisted help from Highland Associates, Plaza Construction and Heart 9/11.
“Hope For The Warriors® thanks BCB Community Bank for focusing on the ongoing needs of our wounded service members,” Tina Atherall, Hope For The Warriors® Executive Vice President said. “This home provides the community of Brick, NJ a wonderful opportunity to work together to support our veterans and thank them for their service and sacrifice.”
BCB Community Bank hopes that other banks in the area will follow their example and donate homes to other veterans and military families.
Hope For The Warriors® is supporting these renovations through their A Warrior’s Wish® program. The program supports the long-term goal of hope beyond recovery. Knowing that Wishes can come true directly affects service members’ spirits in addition to the families and communities that support them. Hope For The Warriors® is proud to grant this Wish and work with the Brick, NJ community.
To complete this Wish, funds are needed to purchase supplies for the renovations. Companies, groups and individuals are encouraged to step forward to make this new home a reality for this wounded hero and his family. To learn more, visit http://www.hopeforthewarriors.org/brickhouse.
