Hope Matters is marking this Memorial Day by launching a new online resource for communities struggling to prevent youth violence and gang violence. HopeMatters.org is dedicated to helping build communities that don’t produce crime by sharing the policies, speeches, and writings of John A. “Jack” Calhoun, a pioneer and leading consultant in the areas of family policy and youth violence prevention. By providing leadership, advice, and current best practices in the areas of family policy, youth and gang violence prevention, and engagement of community and faith-based organizations, HopeMatters.org serves as a resource to government, communities and advocates here and abroad.

“My life’s work has been to help others build communities that don’t produce crime. During that time, I have been privileged to work with and learn from those on the front lines of our nation’s streets as well as the passionate policy makers at every level of government,” said Mr. Calhoun. “Through HopeMatters.org I hope to share what I’ve learned along the way and offer insights, reflections and resources that will continue to help others build communities that don’t produce crime.”

HopeMatters.org features current and past commentaries, articles, and reflections by Mr. Calhoun, like his latest post "7 Essential Steps to Reduce Gang Violence and Youth Violence." The site also provides a valuable directory and links to a wide variety of related national organizations and foundations that are active in the fields of family policy, criminal justice, and youth and gang violence prevention.
