Hopscotch, a mobile-solutions provider for sports teams and event organizers, announced today that it has signed an exclusive agreement with the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (“PLDT”) (NYSE: PHI) (PSE:TEL), the largest Filipino telecommunications company. Hopscotch will build mobile apps for PLDT’s sports, media and entertainment properties.

Through the PLDT partnership, Hopscotch has already produced apps for the Philippine Basketball Association, as well as for concerts by Ariana Grande, Imagine Dragons and Maroon 5.

PLDT Capital’s co­-managing director Winston Damarillo said, “More and more Filipinos are starting to use their smartphones to connect with brands, and Hopscotch provides businesses, both large and small, the opportunity to effectively engage with their customers in a more personalized way.”

Hopscotch’s mobile platform enables organizations to launch apps in as little as two weeks. Companies can update and customize their apps by dragging and dropping video, music and social-media assets into Hopscotch’s content-management system. Hopscotch also delivers audience insights and revenue reports on merchandise and ticket sales.

PLDT President and CEO Napoleon Nazareno cited the Los Angeles startup’s scalable development software as a reason for the investment. “PLDT chose Hopscotch because its platform is very flexible and easy to deploy,” he said. “It requires little to no training on the part of the client as the design is intuitive.”

Hopscotch recently designed and delivered mobile apps for two of the world’s most celebrated live events, New York Fashion Week and Taste of London. Dozens of minor-league sports teams also use the Hopscotch mobile platform.
