Parting Glass Racing enjoyed two spectacular wins at Belmont Racetrack on Sunday, September 16, 2007.
First, filly Cute Cognac won the 6th race with Eibar Coa aboard in a turf allowance for state-bred fillies and mares, demolishing a field of foes. This was her second win in four starts, with earnings of $75,000.
Dave won the 9th race, the $100,000 Ashley T. Cole Handicap, with Alan Garcia aboard. As described by Rab Hagin at nybreds.com, Dave won by "overtaking 7 rivals in the final three furlongs to win Belmont's Ashley T. Cole Handicap for New York-bred three-year-olds and up going a mile and an eighth on the inner turf, prevailing by less than two inches." The breathtaking photo finish shows the win by a whisker. Dave's lifetime earnings now approach the $500,000 mark.
Parting Glass Racing's Managing Owner, Tom Gallo, commented, "I've always said that racehorse ownership is the best kept secret in sports entertainment. This was a banner day for Parting Glass Racing, and it really shows people what can happen when you get involved with a horse partnership. I'm so happy for all the Parting Glass Racing owners who had their moment in the winner's circle on Sunday. This is what it's all about!"
