The Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Consortium announced that that JLF/lone meadow (aka JL Furnishings), a leader in sustainable hospitality furniture design and manufacturing, has joined the Consortium as a Contributing Member. Specializing in the design, manufacture and marketing of furnishing to the Contract market, JLF/lone meadow has a pioneering and unwavering commitment to bringing sustainable practices and progressive designs to the hospitality industry. Its membership in the Consortium moves further toward establishing the new Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Index (HSPI) as the industry resource for sustainable purchasing.

With more than 4.5 million hotel rooms in the U.S., guest room furniture is a major investment for all hotels, brands and owners – and as a central element of design, it has a substantial impact on the guest experience and the environmental footprint of a hotel.

"We are delighted to welcome JLF/lone meadow to the Consortium,” said JoAnna Abrams, CEO of MindClick SGM™. She concluded, “By integrating sustainability in many aspects of how furniture is designed, produced, distributed and used, JLF/lone meadow and others can produce beautiful products that improve indoor air quality, use resources more efficiently and help hotels achieve their sustainability goals. We look forward to their contribution in shaping the HSP Index.”

Twenty-six leading organizations are now part of the Consortium, including more than a dozen industry-leading suppliers, leading brands, architects, designers, purchasing firms, and sustainability consultants.

“As a leading supplier for markets in hospitality, resorts, country clubs and restaurants, JLF/lone meadow has long been aware that there is a growing demand for sophisticated, luxurious furniture that also achieves fundamental standards of sustainability,” said Jeffrey Lazar, President and CEO. “We have led this effort for years, including an approach to environmentally-friendly custom seating that is unique.” He concluded, “We are looking forward to working with other industry leaders, via the Consortium, to establish the performance criteria that helps the industry furnish hotels in sustainable ways.”

JLF/lone meadow joins existing Consortium members Marriott International, American Standard, Audit Logistics, Aqua Hospitality Carpets, Benjamin West, BYD, Contract Decor International, Delta Faucet Company, Innvision, InterfaceFLOR, Kimball, Majestic Mirror and Frame, Mark David, PE INTERNATIONAL Inc., P. Kauffman/Contract, Quiltcraft Industries, Ramsey Purchasing, Richloom Fabrics Group, RTKL, SERA Architects, Shafer Commercial Seating, Simmons Hospitality Bedding, and Valley Forge Fabrics.

The HSPC
The Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Consortium (HSPC), created and led by MindClick SGM™, is establishing the measures of sustainability performance for use in purchasing hotel products that will reduce the industry’s environmental impact, and contribute to guest comfort, health and well-being.

MindClick SGM will integrate the Consortium’s performance criteria into leading global sustainability standards and guidelines to create the Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Index (HSP Index). The Index will include measures of corporate social responsibility, environmental and product sustainability. Initial product categories covered will include furnishings, fixtures and equipment (FF&E), and operating supplies and equipment (OS&E).
