Latest version of authoring platform leapfrogs industry offerings, with fully integrated modules spanning the spectrum of talent management

These attributes make the platform exceptionally versatile and light, designed for rapid prototyping and deployment.

At the 2006 HR Technology Conference and Expo in Chicago, HR Alloy announced the release of QMS™ 3.0, the latest version of their on-demand qualification management system for human resource professionals. This major upgrade extends the system’s authoring platform, and includes several entirely new modules: Project Manager, Competency Manager, 360-degree Feedback Reporting, and Coaching Manager. With this version, QMS has become the first integrated authoring platform for automating many previously separate and labor intensive HR consulting practices, expanding beyond assessment for selection.

Building on the capabilities introduced in QMS 2.0 released in September 2005, the new platform increases the use of shared libraries and user access levels to give administrators maximum control of project management when deployed across an organization. Several large HR consulting firms are getting ready to deploy the upgrade.

“The past year’s consolidation activity in the HR technology space points to a need for greater capabilities and integration from providers. QMS integrates modules across the whole employee life cycle and an organization’s practices. It’s built using open source technologies, as on-demand “software as a service” (SaSS), and delivers pages in real time – all the attributes that are now being used to describe the new Web 2.0 applications,” explained J-F Gauthier, CEO of HR Alloy. “These attributes make the platform exceptionally versatile and light, designed for rapid prototyping and deployment.”

QMS has been used in the past 12 months to deliver a variety of different projects for clients globally situated, including:

  •      Complex assessments, both those authored within the system as well as those connected via XML Web Services transfers, as in the instance of SHL tests.
  •     A Coaching Management system was designed, developed, implemented, and is in use with a major auto manufacturer.
  •     VSA, the Virtual Simulation Authoring module of QMS, now powers assessment development for HR Alloy’s European partner PSL based in the U.K.
  •     Realistic Job Previews (RJP) have been created with VSA for sales and call center positions.
  •     Leader level in-basket tests have been simulated.
  •     Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) for large telecoms was implemented.

“We realized immediate reductions in time to deliver to our end clients and also savings of our own time which lowers costs,” stated early adopter Tim Patton, VP Organizational Consulting for Right Management, a Manpower Company (MAN). “We’ve now successfully implemented a new assessment system, migrated existing assessment and coaching applications, as well as 360-degree feedback tools – all across various geographies.”

Articles referencing HR Alloy technology have appeared in Across the Board, published by the Conference Board, quoting Dr. Wendell Williams of who uses the platform technology to delivery online tests, and in HR Magazine published by SHRM, Sep 06 edition “Job Tryouts Go Virtual”, by Connie Winkler. Business Week contacted HR Alloy to see a demonstration of the technology and hear about its application in the current job market.

QMS 3.0 will be broadly available starting in October 2006. The system can also be used as a firm-wide platform autonomously, for product development, or project fulfillment.
