Last Wednesday, the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting and official grand opening ceremony for Safety Management Systems' Shreveport facilities, also known as their ArkLaTex Region operations and training center.

Last Wednesday, the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting and official grand opening ceremony for Safety Management Systems’ Shreveport facilities, also known as their ArkLaTex Region operations and training center.

After an invocation by Brian Ledoux, emcee Jan Core introduced the chamber representatives, diplomats and city officials. Ken Bartig, regional manager of the ArkLaTex Region, gave a welcome speech to all in attendance before Scott Domingue, SMS president, imparted some opening remarks. Following the ceremony presentation and ribbon cutting by Chamber President Richard H. Bremer, guests enjoyed refreshments and toured the impressive facility.

The ArkLaTex Region operations and training center boasts 100 SMS full-time safety technicians and 4 qualified full-time regulatory instructors. Currently, they are training about 4,000 students a year on- and off-site. They maintain 30 open enrollment classes per month at the actual training center and an average of 8 off-site courses per month that are catered to the clients’ needs. Additionally, they are newly offering a “ServSafe” training course that provides health and safety training to the restaurant and catering businesses in the region.
