GigaOM’s Structure: HStreaming LLC today announced a free Community Edition of its real-time analytics platform built on Hadoop. The software addresses the challenge of analyzing large data sets in real time as they get generated. The software plugs into the large Hadoop ecosystem and allows customers to process, analyze, visualize, correlate, and react to millions of data events per second in real time.

“Many organizations want to expand their big data processing capabilities to real time while leveraging their existing data and software ecosystem. Our free community edition enables users to experiment with real-time analytics and real-time decisioning at no cost.” explains Jana Uhlig, CEO of HStreaming. HStreaming enables running advanced analytics on Hadoop in real time to create live dashboards, identify and recognize patterns within one or across multiple data streams, and trigger actions based on predefined rules or heuristics. HStreaming can handle even the most challenging data volumes and complex analytical problems leveraging the scalability of Hadoop and MapReduce.

HStreaming is the only real-time analytics solution that is built directly on Hadoop giving access to the rich Hadoop ecosystem out of the box. “We think about our software as a building block that fits together with other pieces of the Hadoop ecosystem. We eliminate the need for costly system integration, server installations, or team training. Users download the software onto their laptops and run real-time analytics in less than 10 minutes on their existing Hadoop cluster.” says Jana Uhlig. HStreaming Community Edition includes a real-time version of the widely used Pig data processing language and allows customers to use the same code for batch and real-time processing.

HStreaming Community Edition is available for all major Hadoop distributions including Apache Hadoop, Cloudera, MapR, Amazon EMR, Hortonworks, Greenplum/EMC, IBM, and Microsoft’s Hadoop-based services for Windows Server and Windows Azure. In addition to the free Community Edition, HStreaming also offers HStreaming Enterprise Edition that addresses the needs for professional usage and HStreaming Cloud, a cloud offering compatible with Amazon Web Services.

The free Community Edition is available for download at http://hstreaming.com/products/community. Users of Community Edition have also access to online documentation and the Online Support Forum.
