Vatterott College, 7000 Fleur Drive, has added two exciting new programs. The Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Service Technician (HACR) diploma program and HACR with Management Associate of Occupational Studies Degree are enrolling now.

The HACR diploma program starts by teaching the basic principles of HVAC training and progresses toward more complicated concepts. Topics include hydronic heating and cooling systems, air conditioning and commercial refrigeration, and alternative and green energy. This hands-on HVAC training program in Des Moines provides the information and experience needed to get started in a career in the heating, air conditioning and refrigeration maintenance field.

The HACR with Management is an Associate of Occupational Studies degree program that combines hands-on skills with training in the business aspects of the heating and air conditioning field. This degree focuses on management techniques, microeconomic principles and advancing HACR skills to make students more marketable in the industry. All of the knowledge and skills gained build to a capstone course where students earn industry credentials and certification.

“What is unique about the HACR with Management degree is that it not only teaches the trade, but also focuses on how to run a successful business,” said, Sarah Bouma, Campus Director, Vatterott College, Des Moines. “Both of these programs will prepare students for entry level commercial and residential employment.”
