Tana Webb, Account Manager of Dallas-based US-Analytics, is hopeful that a sense of community holds the answer for women’s success in technology-related jobs.
With technology jobs on the rise, a 2010 report published by the National Center for Women and Information Technology found that women are jumping ship in surprising numbers – In 1991, women held 36 percent of IT-related jobs, and in 2008, just 25 percent.
To foster solidarity for women in the industry, US-Analytics Solutions Group announces its sponsorship of the Hyperion Professional Women’s Forum.
“We’ve met a lot of fantastic women over the past 10 years,” said Webb. “This forum is an opportunity for us to cultivate those relationships and engage in thought leadership together.”
The Hyperion Professional Women’s Forum was founded to create a community dedicated to the flow of ideas, expertise and inspiration among forward-thinking women utilizing the Oracle | Hyperion software. The organization invites all women in the business to join and share ideas with fellow accomplished colleagues.
Webb’s colleague, Lori Geshay, agrees, “When I discuss work with my non-software-oriented friends, I feel like I’m speaking a different language – having a network of resources that understands my business and that I can share stories with is like therapy!”
Not only is the Hyperion Professional Women’s Forum committed to fostering an energized community of women in the industry, but also to fostering support of a greater community of women in need. In keeping, all HPWF networking events benefit women’s charities.
“It’s an organization that lends its resources to encourage personal growth, while also looking into the community and giving something back – and that’s always a good thing,” said Geshay.
HPWF plans to hold its inaugural meeting in Addison, TX at Blue Mesa Grill on August 5, 2010.
