We hope this additional webinar will ease the burden for employers by providing a concise description of the Handbook changes and unique insights into how electronic I-9 systems can address these frequently changing rules
Phoenix, AZ (Vocus/PRWEB) February 23, 2011
LawLogix Group, Inc., the proven leader in I-9 and E-Verify Compliance Software, announced today that it will host an additional free webinar on the revised I-9 Employer Handbook to accommodate record demand. The company’s earlier I-9 compliance webinar held last week, reached maximum attendance levels due to overwhelming interest for information on the revised I-9 handbook. The latest one-hour webinar to be held on Tuesday, March 1 at 11am EST, will feature a panel of I-9 experts, including special guest, Amy Peck, a global immigration attorney with the renowned labor and employment law firm of Jackson Lewis LLP. Employers are encouraged to register early for this informative learning session, entitled “Demystifying the Revised Form I-9 Handbook for Employers.”
“Since the Form I-9 Handbook for Employers was released in early January, I’ve received dozens of calls from employers wanting to know how this affects their current process and whether they need to revise their policy manuals,” said attorney and guest panelist, Amy Peck. “The good news is that the I-9 Handbook clarifies some previously misunderstood procedures on how to handle I-9s for lawful permanent residents and what to do when an employee moves to another unit within a large company. The bad news is that the I-9 Handbook is now 69 pages long, and who has time to read that?”
Form I-9 compliance continues to be an extremely hot topic for employers in 2011, with additional worksite enforcement laws being introduced at both the state and federal levels. The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has also recently announced that the agency plans to intensify worksite enforcement through a national Form I-9 auditing center which can handle the volumes of even the largest employers.
“The recent advancements in I-9 auditing and worksite enforcement in general are truly astounding, especially for those of us that have been monitoring this area of the law for the past twenty-five years,” said Dan Siciliano, who is co-founder of LawLogix and Director of Stanford’s Rock Center for Corporate Governance. “Now more than ever, employers find themselves caught between the rock of increasing enforcement and the hard place of managing an efficient I-9 process internally. We hope this additional webinar will ease this burden for employers by providing a concise description of the Handbook changes and unique insights into how electronic I-9 systems can address these frequently changing rules.”
The LawLogix webinar will include a discussion of the major changes in the M-274 Handbook, including new guidance on completing the I-9 for lawful permanent residents, student and exchange visitors, H-1B professionals, and other foreign national employees.
Attendees will also learn about the impact of these changes on electronic I-9 and E-Verify processing and hear about the latest tools which can facilitate employer compliance.
