Post Office Reveals Iceland is Best Value Destination for UK Holidaymakers
Travellers should inspect travel insurance cover before taking advantage of the country's adventure sports activities.
London, UK (PRWeb UK/PRWEB ) June 21, 2009 -- In a new report from the Post Office, Iceland has been revealed as the current best value destination for UK holidaymakers, due to a favourable exchange rate. The country is popular for its geological features, including volcanoes and geysers, which makes it a sought-after destination for holiday adventure seekers looking to go white-water rafting, cycling, hiking and horse riding. However, Post Office Travel Insurance warns those looking for an extreme vacation to check their travel insurance policy to ensure they are covered for all activities.
Many cheap travel insurance policies do not cover adventure sports such as hiking, white water rafting or even snorkelling and swimming, so Post Office Travel Insurance recommends that any UK holidaymakers seeking adventure on holiday should check the small print in their travel insurance policy carefully. Many companies list adventure sports and hazardous activities which are not covered as standard. However, some policies, including Post Office Travel Insurance, typically cover 44 adventure sports including popular Icelandic holiday activities such as hill walking and orienteering.
Post Office head of travel insurance Rachel Croft comments:
"The weaker pound means that the relative cost of hospital treatment abroad can be potentially much higher than usual. In addition to travel insurance, it's essential that people carry a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), which offers free or reduced cost medical treatment in EU countries. However, the EHIC is not a substitute for travel insurance - it won't cover costs such as mountain rescue, repatriation or lost baggage - so we urge people to ensure they are fully covered against all eventualities."
