Dana Whiddon, Founder of Intentional, Creative, and Engaged LLC, will share her experiences providing art therapy for children and adolescents with developmental disabilities at the 2011 Expressive Therapies Summit held in NYC in November. Ms. Whiddon’s presentation, titled, “How Assessment, Relationship, and Creative Process Foster Developmental Growth on the Autism Spectrum” will provide attendees with innovate approaches for working with individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities. This presentation will illustrate how the creative process supported the development of therapeutic relationships and provided the framework to navigate 15 months of treatment. It will emphasize the benefits of using ongoing assessments that enabled the therapist to address the unique needs of the child in the moment. Ms.Whiddon will also reflect on the challenges and rewards she experienced as she adapted her interventions in each case.
Held in various venues in midtown Manhattan, The Summit takes place from November 10-13, 2011. ICE LLC provides services to families affected by developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders.
