In an effort to help their customers make educated purchase decisions, photo identification products retailer ID Wholesaler released a series of videos about ID card printers in early July. The exclusive series includes five videos that were created in-house by ID Wholesaler’s team of ID professionals.
“ID card printers are not a widely understood piece of technology, which can make them an intimidating purchase for some customers,” says Jennifer Clancy, marketing manager at ID Wholesaler. “We created these videos to introduce our customers to plastic printing technology so that they can shop for an ID card printer with confidence.”
The first two videos in the series are designed for those completely new to the world of ID card printing, providing an introduction. The first video, “What is an ID Card Printer,” provides an introduction to the ID card printer while comparing its features to the familiar desktop inkjet printer. The “Tour of an ID Card Printer” video helps customers understand the ID card printing process by explaining the components of an ID card printer, from the input hopper that holds blank cards to the output hopper that collects printed cards – and everything in between.
“Each video is a minute or two in length, which we found was the perfect amount of time to provide an informative yet digestible overview,” notes Clancy. “This also allows customers to easily pick and choose the information they want to learn.”
Three additional videos were created to help customers in their buying decision. The “How to Choose an ID Card Printer” video guides customers through five questions to consider when shopping for an ID card printer. These questions will help the shopper determine which printer features that are important related to the way that their cards will be used. The “Why Would I Need to Laminate My Plastic Cards” video explains the benefits of ID card lamination, while the “Top Five Benefits of a Retransfer Printer” compares the popular direct-to-card printer to the more advanced retransfer printer to help customers decide which technology is best for their application.
“While these videos are designed to educate and instill confidence, we still encourage customers to call our ID Professionals,” says Clancy. “It’s our hope that the videos provide a basic foundation of understanding so that when they’re ready to call us, they are equipped to ask the right questions to ensure that they get the very best printer for their specific needs.”
