“The goal is to educate business owners and community economic developers on the opportunities of the program,” said Cromie.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, March 5, 2013 – Manufacturers and business owners seeking capital to expand their businesses will learn how to utilize and attract foreign direct investments from one of the premier providers of EB-5 news in the world – the EB-5 Investment Report – at the Innovation Economy Expo on May 9th, 2013.
The EB-5 Investment Report, named EB-5 Media Provider of the Year for 2012, is bringing to the Expo a number of leaders from the EB-5 community to engage with the region’s entrepreneurs, start-ups, and businesses, said EB-5 Investment Report Editor Dwight Cromie. In addition, ieCrowd’s event is serving as an opportunity for EB-5 regional centers to identify high-growth companies that are seeking investment capital for growth.
“The goal is to educate business owners and community economic developers on the opportunities of the program,” said Cromie. “Whether they are regional centers, business owners or investors – our goal is to introduce them to the opportunities the program provides.”
ieCrowd’s Innovation Economy Expo is a large, one-day event that is bringing business leaders, educators and policymakers together in a unique, crowd-driven, interactive forum designed to connect businesses with the global resources needed for success. The event also highlights the first public presentation of ieCrowd’s crowd-powered platform for transforming innovations into high-growth ventures with global impact potential.
The EB-5 Foreign Direct Investment program will be spotlighted in two afternoon break-out sessions during the Expo. The first session is designed for high-growth companies and manufacturers seeking growth capital. Speakers include Brian Su of Artisan Business Group, Inc., a leading consultant in the EB-5 industry; attorney Taher Kameli, of Kameli and Associates, a Chicago-based law firm that specializes in EB-5 issues; and Steven Shen of the China-U.S. Business Summit, who will discuss how companies can use the EB-5 program to fund their businesses.
The second break-out session is designed for developers, economic development professionals and elected officials. The session will cover how economic development experts can create local and regional opportunities for businesses seeking capital. Speakers include Tom Freeman, Foreign Trade Commissioner for the Riverside County Economic Development Agency’s Office of Foreign Trade; Rick Gibbs, Mayor of the City of Murrieta, and Al Rattan, Manager and Co-Founder of USA Continental Regional Center, which has successfully completed several projects using EB-5 funds.
“These are the key players,” Cromie said. “These guys are right in the middle of it.”
The EB-5 program allows foreign investors the opportunity to bring their families to the U.S. to live if they meet guidelines for investment and job creation via an approved EB-5 company. The investment mechanism is gaining attention from U.S. businesses seeking new sources of capital and has been credited for having attracted billions of dollars of investment to U.S. companies, even in the face of the recent economic downturn.
“If you are looking for funding to grow your business or if you are an economic developer trying to grow your community, you really need to look at EB-5,” Cromie said.
The EB-5 Investment Report is one of many companies and organizations participating in the Innovation Economy Expo. The Expo is one of the largest collaborative efforts to advance business creation and growth. Other Innovation Economy Expo participants recently announced include FundingPost, a national leader in venture capital and investing; and Startup California, the California arm of the Startup America organization, working to build new opportunities for entrepreneurs.
