Just like corporations, universities are increasingly looking for ways to leverage technology to improve productivity, save money and enhance the learning experience
PHOENIX (PRWEB) January 23, 2008
Cal State Fullerton has a student enrollment of 37,000 who are spread across the university's 236 acre main campus in Fullerton and satellites in Irvine, Santa Ana and Garden Grove. The university is part of the 23 campus California State University System, the largest university system in the United States.
"iLinc offered us the scalability we needed, an open application programming interface and an easy to implement licensing model designed specifically for the university environment," said Amir Dabirian, Chief Information Technology Officer for CSUF. "We also had some unique requirements such as the need to integrate with the Cal State learning management system and the capability to host science labs across our multiple sites and iLinc met those needs as well."
iLinc offers universities specialized toolsets for distance learning, online meetings, conferences and more through its comprehensive suite of software products. The applications work on both PCs and Apple computers and are easily managed via iLinc's intuitive user interface.
"Just like corporations, universities are increasingly looking for ways to leverage technology to improve productivity, save money and enhance the learning experience," said Jason Walker, Vice President of Sales for iLinc. "What we do is make it easy for them to implement an enterprise-wide solution from both a cost and integration standpoint and work with them to find multiple ways to leverage the tools across the administration, faculty and student populations."
iLinc offers a unique approach for higher learning organizations that are looking to secure an enterprise-wide solution with a budget-minded approach to upfront costs. By enabling colleges and universities to scale the costs of their enterprise solution as the Web conferencing usage of their different schools grows, iLinc helps CIOs and training execs within higher education organizations to initiate live, distance learning capabilities via the iLinc virtual classroom throughout their entire school system without large upfront expense.
"The Enterprise University License selected by CSUF is just one of several larger transactions that we had anticipated would close in the December quarter," said James M. Powers, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of iLinc. "We see a shifting marketplace that for many reasons is more and more opting for a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) or subscription model despite the high ROI offered by our traditional software license model. This shift provides iLinc with longer-term recurring subscription revenue that is more predictable, but yet provides less immediate revenue than our software license model. Despite this key customer win not reflecting on our current financials, we are excited to have CSUF as a long-term customer that will provide us the opportunity to grow our recurring revenue as we move forward," concluded Dr. Powers.
