Simulated training environments will soon be more realistic than ever with the introduction of Rockwell Collins’ new EPTM-8000 advanced image generator.
The new system will be unveiled for the first time on Nov. 30 at 2 p.m. at Rockwell Collins’ booth #1501 at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC).
“The EP-8000 features truly ground-breaking technology that changes the training paradigm,” said Ken Schreder, vice president and general manager of Rockwell Collins Simulation and Training Solutions. “We’re raising the bar for visuals by introducing an image generator with the highest level of performance, reliability and maintainability to create maximum value for our customers.”
New features of the EP-8000 include:
The EP-8000 is the first image generator to apply software programmable technology to a visual solution. This approach makes it possible to add new features and performance enhancements to the system with simple software updates versus changing out graphics cards.

The system is supported by Rockwell Collins’ global support network for rapid deployment of critical parts, providing first-responder capability and allowing efficient deployment of visual system specialists to assist with complex technical problems.
The EP-8000 leverages Rockwell Collins’ CORETM simulation architecture introduced earlier this year. CORE is built upon Common Open Reusable Elements and fully integrates Rockwell Collins’ industry-leading visual systems and visual display technologies.
