Educational software company Imagine Learning has released Imagine Learning Version 12, the largest software release in the company’s history. Version 12 adds over 500 new activities to the language and literacy curriculum, all of which were specifically developed to address the Common Core standards. The new release also features an enhanced placement system to ensure students are receiving the most appropriate instruction on an individual basis.

For schools already using Imagine Learning, the upgrade to Version 12 is free.

“Educators are looking for Common Core curriculum,” said Joe Swenson, Imagine Learning President and CEO. “With Imagine Learning Version 12, they are getting one of the few software programs with instruction that not only aligns with the Common Core standards, but was built specifically to address those standards.”

The new activities offer explicit instruction in areas such as informational text features, comparing and contrasting literature and informational texts, listening and reading comprehension, phonemic awareness, and more.

And as with previous versions, all the instruction is available with first-language support in any of 15 supported languages.

Version 12 also introduces an enhanced placement system. Imagine Learning’s Smart Sequencer system initially places students uniquely within the program’s curriculum, and then uses strategic checkpoints to constantly calibrate the student’s experience with the content.

“We conducted a pilot with over 4,000 students across 9 states to confirm the most predictive methods for academic placement,” said Brian Bryant, Product Manager. “Our initial placement assessment is now more consistent and more predictive. And even better—it now takes less time for the students to complete, which means less testing, and more teaching.”

Version 12 also includes a district-hosted option that enables students to use Imagine Learning at school, then go log in with a computer at home to pick up right where they left off.
