Inauguration Mashup Gives Attendees a Voice

User Generated Content Makes History with Mobile Reporting and Visual Analytics

Washington, DC (PRWEB) January 17, 2009 -- A new iPhone and BlackBerry application developed by PointAbout and FortiusOne in partnership with Qorvis and Patton Boggs, gives a voice to 2009 Obama Inauguration attendees by polling users on a range of questions and displaying the results with user-friendly visual analytics at www.NavigatingWashington.com.

FortiusOne was called upon to analyze and visualize the results of the geographic polling component, which gauges real-time user sentiment about inaugural events. This feature, called, "Make Your Voice Heard," enables anyone across the country to express their opinion via their smart phones and instantly see how they and thousands of others are voting.

"NavigatingWashington.com showcases an innovative fusion of content from mobile devices and enterprise information," said Sean Gorman, CEO and founder of FortiusOne. "With our soon to be released GeoCommons API , we are seamlessly aggregating official source data with real-time mobile user generated content (UGC.) Users can visualize the DC government's street closures, secure zones and traffic patterns while participating in the nationwide online poll that measures their reactions to inaugural events; enabling each individual to truly make their voice heard."

The mobile application-powered mashup was conceived of and delivered in under three weeks, a timeframe made possible by PointAbout's unique approach to mobile application development. "We make innovation possible on the mobile device in ways that were inconceivable before," says Chief Strategy Officer Sean Shadmand.

"By leveraging "citizen sensors" we are able to gather and visualize a new level of valuable information," said Andrew Turner, CTO, FortiusOne. "Just as we did with the TwitterVoteReport and NPR's InaugurationReport, we are excited to demonstrate how GeoCommons simple integration and collaboration with other channels is enabling participation like never before."
