The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra announced today that it will present a one-night-only special event featuring renowned author and A Prairie Home Companion host Garrison Keillor and other acclaimed artists in Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion: Summer Love on Sunday, August 15, at 6 p.m. at the Conner Prairie Amphitheater located at 13400 N. Allisonville Rd., in Fishers, Indiana. This special event is locally sponsored by Indianapolis Power and Light Company.
Tickets are priced at $35 for adults and $10 for children ages 2-12, with reserved tables available for $79 each. Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion: Summer Love show will feature the everlasting theme of romantic love through tender duets and ballads, poetry by Edgar Alan Poe, William Shakespeare and others, and stories of passion and marriage. The show also will feature Keillor walking through the audience for a sing-along of “Unchained Melody” and “Can’t Help Falling in Love With You.” He will be joined by other A Prairie Home Companion favorites such as Guy Noir, Dusty and Lefty, and the News from Lake Wobegon, plus Nickel Creek’s Sara Watkins, sound-effects man Fred Newman and the Guy’s All-Star Shoe Band.
A Prairie Home Companion has been a public radio mainstay since 1974. It is heard by more than four million listeners on approximately 600 public radio stations nationwide, as well as on XM Radio, the Armed Forces Network Europe, the Far East Network, and in dozens of European cities via the Astra satellite network. More information can be found online at http://www.prairiehome.org.
Garrison Keillor is the author of numerous books, including Pilgrims: A Wobegon Romance (Viking) and 77 Love Sonnets (Common Good Books). He is the founder and host of the acclaimed public radio programs A Prairie Home Companion and The Writer's Almanac.
